                  This portion of the meeting is a closed meeting under Section 92‑4 and sections 92‑5(3) and (4), Hawaii Revised Statutes.

IV.         Public Testimony on Board of Education (Board) Agenda Items

Any interested person may submit data, views, or arguments in writing to the Board on any agenda item.  An individual or representative wishing to testify should register prior to the meeting.  Testimony must be related to an item that is on the agenda and such person shall be required to identify the agenda item to be addressed by the testimony. Each individual or representative of an organization is allotted two minutes, or an amount of time otherwise designated by the Chairperson, to provide testimony to the Board.

V.        Reports/Announcements of Board Committees and Members

          A.        Human Resource Committee Report on the following: (1) Goal 2 targets and related metrics from the Board and Department of Education (Department) strategic plan; (2) union collective bargaining provisions related to employee hours and working conditions; and, (3) Department’s follow up on the recommendations contained in the Internal Auditor’s review of the casual hire personnel recruitment, hiring and payroll processes report.

B.        Student Achievement Committee Report on the following: (1) Goal 1 targets and related metrics from the Board and Department’s strategic plan; and, (2) School Year 2013-14 school calendar

C.        Superintendent’s Report   

D.        State Librarian’s Report

E.        Hawaii State Student Council (HSSC) Report

A.                 Update from the charter school implementation and transition permitted interaction group and transition coordinator (Act 130, Session Laws of Hawaii 2012)

In an effort to reduce costs and increase public access to meeting materials, the Board of Education (BOE) will no longer be providing copies of materials for distribution.  Instead, at each meeting there will be two (2) folders of materials for public review and, effective immediately, materials can be viewed online at www.hawaiiboe.net.  For those unable to print, the BOE Office will make copies of such materials at a cost of $0.25 per sheet.
